Modern Antiquities

Chet Lo presents the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, Modern Antiquity, a bold reinterpretation of chinoiserie through an Asian perspective. This season, Lo confronts the colonialist history of Western interpretations of Asian art, reclaiming and transforming these motifs into something distinctly and authentically Asian.

Drawing inspiration from misrepresented artistic tropes, Modern Antiquity manipulates traditional Western depictions of Asian culture and reshapes them into contemporary, subversive designs. Lo and his team have developed striking prints by deconstructing and distorting classic imagery: tiger prints emerge from exaggerated and repeated patterns, while traditional cloud motifs are reimagined through explosions, morphing into delicate floral formations. This exploration of artistic transmutation serves as the foundation of the collection, bridging past and present through innovative design.

Signature textures and craftsmanship define the collection, including Chet Lo’s iconic merino wool spikes, intricate woven pleating for dynamic textural contrast, and a plush knitting technique that creates dimensional floral patterns. The collection embraces depth and structure, reinforcing the theme of transformation through fabric and form.

In an exciting partnership, Modern Antiquity proudly debuts a collaboration with Converse, offering an exclusive sneak peek of the footwear designed for this collection releasing later this year. The show is further supported by Kate Somerville Skincare, ensuring models showcase a luminous, flawless complexion, and Commando, whose undergarments provide seamless support for the looks. Hair styling is curated by Authentic Beauty Concept, enhancing the runway aesthetic with modern yet timeless styles. Hair & Care Cic have proudly supported the show by making it accessible for blind and low vision guests through audio descriptions and tactile swatches of the collection.

With Modern Antiquity, Chet Lo reclaims the narrative of chinoiserie, turning Western interpretation into a powerful statement of Asian artistry. This collection is not just fashion—it is an act of cultural reclamation, reinvention, and celebration.
